Coller Capital’s 2024 ESG Report

At a time when the very concept of businesses having environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies is increasingly up for debate in some parts of the world, I’m proud that this report shows Coller Capital continuing to lead the way in using ESG as a means of making our investments – and ourselves – even better.

Our understanding and embrace of ESG principles informs everything we do as a company. Because for us there is no question of striking a balance between being a responsible business and a successful business – at Coller Capital, we believe the two are inseparably entwined.

So, as you’ll see, in the past year we have used the valuable lenses provided by ESG to continually improve what we do and how we do it.

We’ve evolved our ESG practices to match the innovation and growth that has long been one of our hallmarks as a firm – for example by creating a sophisticated technology-enabled tool to support ESG disclosures for our private credit secondaries products.

Our ESG team has assessed and evaluated $240bn of opportunities and investments, making a significant contribution to our risk-adjusted performance.

We’ve strengthened our diversity, equality and inclusion processes, revamped our internship scheme with the aim of creating a more diverse talent pipeline, and taken further steps to further improve our environmental footprint across firm level operations.

And I’m delighted that these efforts have not just helped deliver for our business, our investors and our planet, but have also received widespread recognition from our peers. Coller’s ESG work has received numerous industry awards throughout the year, including Adam Black, our Head of ESG, being added to the Real Deals ESG Hall of Fame for his leadership over many decades.

I’d also like to take a moment to recognise Alan Briefel, who sadly passed away at the end of 2024. Alan was a personal life-long friend of mine and was also an early adopter of ESG as an investment risk lens. He served on Coller Capital’s first ESG Committee and was instrumental in our journey to embrace ESG as a firm. The continued progress shown in this report forms part of his legacy, one that has already made a hugely positive impact for so many people and will, I am sure, continue to do so for many years to come.

At Coller Capital we’re proud to call ourselves first in secondaries – and proud of the role ESG plays in making that happen.
