Zurich, 27 July, 2024 – Coller Capital, the world’s largest independent investor dedicated exclusively to private market secondaries[1], has appointed Roman Eggler as Head of Private Wealth Distribution for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The appointment underlines Coller Capital’s commitment to growing its Private Wealth Secondaries Solutions (PWSS) business across all channels, globally.
Previously, Mr. Eggler was a Managing Director in Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Client Solutions Group with responsibility for the Switzerland Third Party Wealth business. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Eggler worked at Deutsche Bank as a senior sales manager in Asset & Wealth Management for wholesale clients in Switzerland, and, before that, he was at POLARIS Investment Advisory, EWM Global and IBM Global Business Services. Roman holds a BA HSG in Business Administration and an MA HSG in Marketing, Services and Communication Management, both from the University of St. Gallen. He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and completed the Oxford Private Markets Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
The announcement follows the recent news that Coller Capital received regulatory approval to launch its first Luxembourg domiciled ‘SICAV’ fund, Coller International Secondaries Private Equity Fund (CollerEquity) accessible to eligible private wealth investors outside of the U.S. The fund will be seeded with over $400 million of capital from investors globally and invests alongside Coller Capital’s closed-ended vehicles, seeking to deliver a combination of absolute and risk-adjusted returns, diversification, and the opportunity for more liquidity than traditional private equity funds[2].
The senior appointment of Mr. Eggler, who will be based in Zurich, is the latest in a series of hires that Coller Capital has made to grow its PWSS business around the world. Mr. Eggler will report to Boris Maeder, who was recently appointed as Head of International Private Wealth Distribution. The PWSS team, which launched in 2023, now consists of 30 dedicated individuals.
Boris Maeder, Head of International Private Wealth Distribution, Coller Capital, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Roman to Coller Capital, marking another important step on our path to building the leading private markets partner for the wealth channel. Roman brings extensive experience in the private markets space and a deep relationship network in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Roman’s expertise will be instrumental in helping our clients achieve their goals in terms of private markets exposure and diversification through Coller Capital’s unique secondaries offering.”
Roman Eggler, Head of DACH Private Wealth Distribution, Coller Capital said: “I’m delighted to join secondaries thought leader Coller Capital and look forward to helping the firm make its multi-decade track-record of outperformance accessible to private wealth clients. With our new strategic hub in Zurich, we are uniquely positioned to meet the record demand from high-net-worth investors for private markets secondaries. Investors are rightly attracted by the increased liquidity, flexibility, and diversification of private markets secondaries and I’m excited to support them in enhancing their portfolios.”
Coller Capital has offices in London, New York, Zurich, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Melbourne and Luxembourg. The firm has $33 billion assets under management[3] and more than 30 years of experience in the market.
