Innovatech
In March 2005, Coller Capital completed the acquisition of
a portfolio of direct venture assets from the Government
of Québec. Coller Capital committed to invest
up to $200m in the portfolio, which comprised 109 companies
and 13 funds focused on IT, health sciences and other
advanced technologies.
Coller Capital was chosen following a rigorous process involving
almost 60 potential investors. Announcing the deal, the Minister
for Economic and Regional Development welcomed Coller Capital
as a “stakeholder of international calibre”,
adding that the firm’s offer was “the best one
from a financial and strategic standpoint for the development
of venture capital in Québec”.
